Morenito Featuring Clémentine (Bossa Mix) – Hotel Costes Vol. 6
French house DJ Stéphane Pompougnac is best known for his Hôtel Costes series of compilations, sales of which have exceeded two million copies.
Pompougnac began his career as a house DJ, playing at a number of clubs in Paris. During this time he was invited to DJ at Hôtel Costes: a Parisian hotel famous for its luxuriance and a popular hang out of the Paris smart set (where the young Pompougnac had been a waiter some years previously). The ambience that he generated was met with approval and increasing interest in him, resulting in a mix album of house, electronica and lounge, just as he played in his sets. At first a low-key success, the concept grew into a series which took off with the second release. La Suite included Pink Martini’s “Symphatique”, which was picked as a backing track for a TV advert, generating interest and causing sales of the album to soar. In addition to the compilation series, he has also released two solo albums, one of which features collaborations with established singers Michael Stipe and Yves Montand.
