20 Things I Learned About Browsers and the Web
“Google and FI worked together to educate the public about the web and browsers. Using the latest HTML5 technology, we created an interactive reading experience.”
“Google is keenly aware of the important role the browser plays towards an open, modern web. A browser’s speed, security and capabilities all factor significantly into the end user experience. In 2008, Google released its own browser — Google Chrome — which included several innovations to make browsing faster and more stable. Then recently, Google’s Chrome team approached Fi to build an interactive HTML5 web app that would both explain and showcase features of the modern browser as well as the modern web, which Google and Fi are passionate about.”
The Concept
The project is called “20 Things I Learned About Browsers and the Web” and the overarching direction was to present the information in a way that “hearkens back to all the things we know and love about books,” but in a modern, web-oriented way. The challenge was to take a traditionally offline experience and reinvent it online. Fi’s developers are known for staying ahead of the curve with web technology and Google wanted Fi to take full advantage of that by building features using all the available modern tools, to demonstrate what the modern web and modern browsers can do.
